20 YEARS STRONG

Over the last 20 years, significant interest has been generated from our physician contract review services. As a result, we have developed a comprehensive approach with reasonable rates. We have several flat fee contract review packages our clients can choose from based on their comfort and understanding of the employment contract process. Additionally, we provide a discount for Residents and Fellows.

PROTECTING OUR CLIENT

Legal services are professional services, like physician services. Since Jim Kelso is licensed by the State Bar of Texas, we are responsible for our actions and advice. Not all individuals who offer employment contract services are licensed professionals and subject to similar standards. As a result, we do not provide any financial services nor do we try to sell insurance or annuity products to our clients. We focus strictly on one thing: protecting our clients!

ABOUT JAMES D. KELSO, JD, LLM

In 1997, Jim Kelso began practicing Health Law at an academic medical center consisting of a 900-bed teaching hospital, a children’s hospital, a level 1 trauma center and a fully incorporated faculty practice. During this time, he provided legal services for faculty, staff and administrators (including Deans and Department Chairman).

His services addressed issues impacting clinical, educational and research activities. In December 2000, Jim completed a Master of Laws program focused in Health Law (known as an LLM) at the University of Houston Law Center’s Health Law and Policy Institute. The Health Law and Policy Institute has been ranked first in the country by US News & World Reports because of its exposure to Houston’s Texas Medical Center and very competitive health care market serviced by national health law experts.

In 2001, Jim accepted responsibility for several significant Health Care Compliance related initiatives. Health care compliance entails the proactive management of numerous risks that arise from federal, state and administrative law that affect clinical, educational, and research activities of physicians and their health care partners. His responsibilities included, but were not limited to, Billing and Coding Compliance, HIPAA Privacy and Security Compliance, Academic Medical Research Compliance and Compliance with Clinical Conflicts of Interest.

In December 2005, Jim became Board Certified in Health Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. There are roughly 60 attorneys in Texas with this certification and specialized knowledge. Throughout his career, Jim has cultivated a continuing interest in helping physicians address the needs of their practices and Jim has also developed a unique skill set to help new physicians address the uncomfortable aspects of negotiating their employment contracts. Member, State Bar of Texas Member, State Bar of Texas, Health Law Section Member, American Health Lawyers Association.
